Information — |
ALCo's
beautiful PA is one of America's most famous locomotives.
It was ALCo's entry into the passenger train diesel
craze, competing with the E-Units from EMD.
2010
Production Notes: |
Denver & Rio Grande Western -
|
These ALCo PA-1 and PB-1 Denver & Rio Grande Western Gold “4 stripe” locomotives pulled D&RGW passenger trains through the Rocky Mountains and also pulled the “California Zephyr” between Denver and Salt Lake City. They looked absolutely superb with their silver and gold paint scheme with 4 stripes winding their way through tunnels and along the rivers in the Colorado Rockies. Now these images can be created on layouts anywhere. |
2008 Production Notes:
|
Southern
Pacific -
|
Re-live
the mid 1950’s with Southern Pacific
PA/PB’s from Kato
USA, as these
beautifully “Daylight” painted
locomotives took over operation of the famous “Daylight” passenger trains.
Operate a “Morning Daylight” with
these new PA and PB combinations. The PA/PB’s
were used on other
Southern Pacific passenger trains as well. Start
your fleet of PA/PB units today and re-live
some of this railroad’s
colorful past. |
2004 Production Notes: |
Santa
Fe - |
Although
Santa Fe's red and silver "Warbonnet" may
be the most recognized PA, there were many
other notable paint schemes. |
Delaware & Hudson - |
Delaware & Hudson
purchased four second-hand PA locomotives from
Santa Fe, simply replacing their blue for Santa
Fe's red. Two have recently been repatriated
from Mexico and are undergoing restoration. |
Denver & Rio
Grande Western -
|
Rio
Grande's PA and PB locomotives require special
note for this production. The railroad purchased
two A-B-A sets of locomotives for use on the California
Zephyr. Delivered in a black paint scheme
with yellow stripes, they were quickly repainted
in an all-silver scheme with a gold nose to
better match the cars of the California Zephyr. |

Stock Checks:
Inventory is a fluid commodity. It changes by the
hour (sometimes by the minute). To retain our pricing structure
we maintain stock levels designed to turnover 6 times each
year. We cannot guarantee stock status till we have an order
in hand. All product is subject to prior sale. If we confirm
that we have it, and, while we are waiting for the order
it sells, you would be upset that we did not hold it.
We used to hold items but learned a VERY EXPENSIVE lesson.
When we held items for customers’ orders, the order
never materialized 80%+ of the time. We lost out on
the orders placed while the item was on hold. Also
we wasted staff time that could have been used to pull actual
orders.
Since we are well known for finding older stock the fact
that it may not be on our shelves at this minute does not
mean we can’t get it. So, as we spell out on our terms
pages, we don’t do it anymore. You may, however, call in and we will tell you if the items
are available and if possible attempt to locate what we
don’t have while you are on the phone. |
