Inventory is a fluid commodity.  It changes by the hour (sometimes by the minute). To retain our pricing structure we maintain stock levels designed to turnover 6 times each year. We cannot guarantee stock status till we have an order in hand. All product is subject to prior sale. If we confirm that we have it, and, while we are waiting for the order it sells, you would be upset that we did not hold it.
We used to hold items but learned a VERY EXPENSIVE lesson. When we held items for customers’ orders, the order never materialized 80%+ of the time.  We lost out on the orders placed while the item was on hold.  Also we wasted staff time that could have been used to pull actual orders.
Since we are well known for finding older stock the fact that it may not be on our shelves at this minute does not mean we can’t get it. So, as we spell out on our terms pages, we don’t do it anymore. You may, however, call in and we will tell you if the items are available and if possible attempt to locate what we don’t have while you are on the phone.

March 01 -- We will close the storefront and phone lines beginning at 5pm on Tuesday March 6th 2012 and should reopen at our normal times on Saturday March 10th 2012.  George and Debra will travel to City of Hope's Helford Hospital in California for George’s surgery.

December 17 -- We learned last evening that our ISP had installed Spam filters of their own that were screening incoming e-mails before they passed them on to us.  We had never been informed of this system and when informed we found that they had more than 40 recent incoming messages from current customers that they had flagged as Spam and were planning to delete without telling us.  How many hundreds they previously deleted we have no way of knowing.  Those e-mails are here now and George is working as quickly as possible to process them.  Many of them were from customers we have done business with for as many as 9 years.  Bizarre is the best word we can come up with to describe the situation.  Following the less than spectacular Denver show and extremely disappointing Del Mar show and the backlog of orders that came in during those shows and our training trip, adding the additional orders just received has slowed George down a bit but hopefully by Monday evening after the Doctor removes his stitches he’ll be back to a reasonable flow of processing current orders.
Luckily in 2012 we plan to implement a shopping cart system for all orders to reduce labor cost and increase efficiency in processing your orders.  Please bear with us.

December 01 -- Bluford Shops has announced their new Short Body Caboose in various versions: Long-roof, Short-roof, with or without bay windows, with or without roofwalks, diagonal panel roof or smooth roof. Coming in Union Pacific, Missouri Pacific, Family Lines (L&N & CRR) Southern Pacific, & ex-Family Lines INRD paint schemes, these are due to arrive early summer 2012. Pre-Orders close @ Wig-Wag on January 31st.

November 29 -- In prepping for the Del Mar Show Debra has located about $30,000 in orders that we have been unable to ship due to declines on the customers' Credit Cards.  

We can no longer afford to continue sitting on these hoping the customer will "finally" clear their order.  It has cost us too much in financing charges.  This orders have bounced due to various reasons including: invalid account numbers being given to us, expired cards that have not been updated, international cards that have limits on the purchase amount (customer has failed to reply as to what amount would clear and how often), invalid CVCC codes, and of course cards that are simply continuously over their limits. 

When we return from Del Mar and George's follow up appointment to City of Hope we will try these orders one final time.  If they do not clear then a final notice will be sent to the customer if we have their e-mail and the order closed on December 16th if we are unable to get the order cleared.  Customers who mail payment need to be sure that their payments are received by 12/13/2011. 

Customers at the Anaheim show will find various items that have otherwise been sold out available again in very limited quantities so do not miss that show. 

If you are one of the customers whose orders have been hanging and you have not replied yet or you think you might be missing something, do not delay till phone lines re-open on 12/09/2011 they will likely be very busy with last minute M-TL orders as well as other items that people will be wanting for the holidays.
