Stock Checks:
Inventory is a fluid commodity. It changes by the
hour (sometimes by the minute). To retain our pricing structure
we maintain stock levels designed to turnover 6 times each
year. We cannot guarantee stock status till we have an order
in hand. All product is subject to prior sale. If we confirm
that we have it - and - while we are waiting for the order
it sells - you would be upset that we did not hold it.
We used to hold items but learned a VERY EXPENSIVE lesson.
When we held items for customers’ orders - the order
never materialized 80%+ of the time. We lost out on
the orders placed while the item was on hold. Also
we wasted staff time that could have been used to pull actual
orders.
Since we are well known for finding older stock the fact
that it may not be on our shelves at this minute does not
mean we can’t get it. So - as we spell out on our terms
pages - we don’t do it anymore. You may - however - call in and we will tell you if the items
are available and if possible attempt to locate what we
don’t have while you are on the phone.
Please place your order using our SECURE Shopping Cart site:
http://wig-wag-trains-cart.com/home
If you MUST send an e-mail inquiry - copy & paste the entire description TEXT ONLY (NO pictures!) from the
item you are ordering into your e-mail.
It will save time and reduce confusion in determining
what you
are inquiring about.
With the quantity of lines we carry it's not possible to memorize all of them.
Special Notice: George is still far behind on getting new announcements posted. Please use the shopping cart site to get current announcementsand place your order. http://wig-wag-trains-cart.com/shop Debra is current with announcements on the Shopping Cart Site.

Part #: MTL-986-00-541 - Southern Pacific® - Road #: s 2638 - EMD SW1500 Locomotive - Southern Pacific Railroad's diesel locomotive fleets saw a number of paint schemes over the life of the railroad. Best known of all was the more common “Bloody Nose” version of overall dark grey with bright red ends giving it that name. Lettering also evolved with the final style before merging with Union Pacific® being known as “Speed Lettering” given its forward leaning script style. Wig-Wag Note: "Bloody Nose" - a railfan term - referred to the red "wings" that wrapped around the nose of the E & F-units which initially wore the scheme and later GP & SD style carbody locomotives. The switchers did not get the wings but the moniker was still used. The Speed Lettering was an homage to and a modification to the "Flying Rio" Scheme that the D&RGW was using at the merger with SP. Initially locos had the lettering leaning away from the front on both sides to indicate speed. Rio Grande eventually lost or damaged the right hand stencil and stopped having different lettering for left vs right sides. The result was on side appeared to be leaning forward while the other was being blown backward. Upon the merger - SP adopted a modified version.

Garth - you said it best: "I'm much too young to feel this damn old.
Please Note: George is running far behind on getting new announcements posted. Please go to the shopping cart site to get all the current announcements. http://wig-wag-trains-cart.com/shop Debra is current with announcements.
You will continue to see new announcements below in the date series when they were announced but with challenges both on the railroad where he works and with the weather he has had to make numerous trips back and forth to suppliers.
Additionally with the murder of his 1st cousin in Denver and the pending funeral life has intruded on the normal routine.
November 1 - Pontification Time: While I hunkered down here in Mogote bivouacked near the RR working on the Rapido announcement (that I hope will be complete in an hour) I was listening to Sirius XM 70's on 7 for Casey Kasem's American Top 40. As he counted down to Gladys Knight & the Pips Midnight Train to Georgia (their first #1 on 10/27/73) I was once again reminded of Sunday nights spent doing homework and counting down with Kasey. Then I was troubled by all the consternation the Casem family has gone through since his passing. I sit here in the cold of the San Luis Valley and pray that they can once and finally find the peace and tranquility that Kasey brought so many of my generation especially as he concluded each week with this phrase: "Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the Stars." Now that AT40 has concluded for this week I will put in the Garth Brooks DVD from Wynn Las Vegas - the "Blame it all on My Roots" Concert. What better day can one have?

A Note on
Stock Status:
Not all items can be in stock at all
times. Due to minimum order requirements from manufacturers
and distributors and shipping charges - we "bunch"
up re-orders to save you money. Sometimes it takes longer -
but we can continue to offer the item at a substantial discount
that way.
Confused about Reservations?
Please consider that this is the way
we pay the bills and put food on the table. Taking pre-orders
allows us to order enough to cover known demand. We attempt
to gauge (ok - guess) how many will be ordered after the order
deadline plus allow us to have the item in stock for 45-60
days after shipment by the manufacturer.
Sometimes we get it right and sometimes we don't. Occasionally -
when an item is not likely to be produced again (D&RGW
H-15-44s for example) we order beyond our guess to have a
few for longer than that. Please also
