Stock Checks:
Inventory is a fluid commodity. It changes by the
hour (sometimes by the minute). To retain our pricing structure
we maintain stock levels designed to turnover 6 times each
year. We cannot guarantee stock status till we have an order
in hand. All product is subject to prior sale. If we confirm
that we have it - and - while we are waiting for the order
it sells - you would be upset that we did not hold it.
We used to hold items but learned a VERY EXPENSIVE lesson.
When we held items for customers’ orders - the order
never materialized 80%+ of the time. We lost out on
the orders placed while the item was on hold. Also
we wasted staff time that could have been used to pull actual
orders.
Since we are well known for finding older stock the fact
that it may not be on our shelves at this minute does not
mean we can’t get it. So - as we spell out on our terms
pages - we don’t do it anymore. You may - however - call in and we will tell you if the items
are available and if possible attempt to locate what we
don’t have while you are on the phone.
Please place your order using our SECURE Shopping Cart site:
http://wig-wag-trains-cart.com/home
If you MUST send an e-mail inquiry - copy & paste the entire description TEXT ONLY (NO pictures!) from the
item you are ordering into your e-mail.
It will save time and reduce confusion in determining
what you
are inquiring about.
With the quantity of lines we carry it's not possible to memorize all of them.
Special Notice: George is still far behind on getting new announcements posted. Please use the shopping cart site to get current announcementsand place your order. http://wig-wag-trains-cart.com/shop Debra is current with announcements on the Shopping Cart Site.

PROTOTYPE HISTORY:
Introduced in the early 1960s - the Trailer Train (now TTX Company) F89F flatcar has been a mainstay of contemporary railroading. A
product of Bethlehem Steel Company’s (BSC) Johnstown - PA plant - over 9 -000 of these (89’ 8” over the strikers) cars were built throughout
the 1960s. Visually distinctive from other long flatcars of their era thanks to their “C” channel side sills - these versatile cars were adapted
for many types of service and loadings over the years - ranging from Trailer-On-Flatcar (TOFC) - to autoracks - to structural steel loading.
While the majority went to Trailer Train - many were built for various railroads - typically for autorack service. Many were “de-racked” in later
years - being reassigned and equipped for other service - TOFC - vehicle loading - pipe service - etc.
This Athearn N-scale model was designed from the start to incorporate as many prototype details and variations as possible - based upon field
measurements and builder diagrams - in order to appeal to modelers of multiple eras. You can rest assured of its smooth performance - thanks
to a heavy die-cast frame for reliable tracking - and our N-scale 70-ton ASF Ride-Control trucks.
Operationally - these cars are appropriate for any layout set from the 1960s to the present day. The Auto Racks would be fastened to the 89’
flatcar for auto service from Detroit. The Athearn N-scale Auto Rack features a Bethlehem Steel F89FH with a Whitehead and Kales bi-level
rack. High level of detail ensures authenticity to the prototype.
Almost every train needs a baggage car - from the hot-shot streamliner to the two-car branchline local. This National Steel Car smooth side baggage-express car has been in use throughout North America for over 60 years. These cars - along with similar cars from other builders - carried baggage and express traffic on primary - secondary and mixed trains. Many carried sealed mail for the post office. These cars were used until recently on Amtrak - VIA Rail - Ontario Northland - Algoma Central and are still used on several tourist lines.
The 73ft 6in Baggage-Express Car brings a new level of realism to N scale modelers everywhere and has all the details you’ve come to expect from our N scale Panorama Line cars. This all-new car incorporates all of the superb features included on our most recent releases - including the 10-5 Sleeper and the Cafe-Bar-Lounge. Features:
Four numbers plus unnumbered available in each scheme
Will operate smoothly on curves down to 9-3/4" radius
Standard End or End Doors as appropriate
Super-detailed Commonwealth Cast Pedestal tri-axle - 41-N-11 Inside
Swinghanger or 41-BNO-11 Outside Swinghanger trucks as appropriate for each road name and car type.

Incentive Per Diem (IPD) boxcars were primarily 50’ rib side boxcars with 10’ sliding or plug doors or double sliding doors. Our 12-month series will feature a colorful assortment of twelve new paint schemes of Per Diem boxcars from various shortline railroads.

You will continue to see new announcements below in the date series when they were announced but with challenges both on the railroad where he works and with the weather he has had to make numerous trips back and forth to suppliers.
Additionally with the murder of his 1st cousin in Denver and the pending funeral life has intruded on the normal routine.
November 1 - Pontification Time: While I hunkered down here in Mogote bivouacked near the RR working on the Rapido announcement (that I hope will be complete in an hour) I was listening to Sirius XM 70's on 7 for Casey Kasem's American Top 40. As he counted down to Gladys Knight & the Pips Midnight Train to Georgia (their first #1 on 10/27/73) I was once again reminded of Sunday nights spent doing homework and counting down with Kasey. Then I was troubled by all the consternation the Casem family has gone through since his passing. I sit here in the cold of the San Luis Valley and pray that they can once and finally find the peace and tranquility that Kasey brought so many of my generation especially as he concluded each week with this phrase: "Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the Stars." Now that AT40 has concluded for this week I will put in the Garth Brooks DVD from Wynn Las Vegas - the "Blame it all on My Roots" Concert. What better day can one have?

A Note on
Stock Status:
Not all items can be in stock at all
times. Due to minimum order requirements from manufacturers
and distributors and shipping charges - we "bunch"
up re-orders to save you money. Sometimes it takes longer -
but we can continue to offer the item at a substantial discount
that way.
Confused about Reservations?
Please consider that this is the way
we pay the bills and put food on the table. Taking pre-orders
allows us to order enough to cover known demand. We attempt
to gauge (ok - guess) how many will be ordered after the order
deadline plus allow us to have the item in stock for 45-60
days after shipment by the manufacturer.
Sometimes we get it right and sometimes we don't. Occasionally -
when an item is not likely to be produced again (D&RGW
H-15-44s for example) we order beyond our guess to have a
few for longer than that. Please also
