Stock Checks:

Inventory is a fluid commodity.  It changes by the hour (sometimes by the minute). To retain our pricing structure we maintain stock levels designed to turnover 6 times each year. We cannot guarantee stock status till we have an order in hand. All product is subject to prior sale. If we confirm that we have it, and, while we are waiting for the order it sells, you would be upset that we did not hold it.
We used to hold items but learned a VERY EXPENSIVE lesson. When we held items for customers’ orders, the order never materialized 80%+ of the time.  We lost out on the orders placed while the item was on hold.  Also we wasted staff time that could have been used to pull actual orders.
Since we are well known for finding older stock the fact that it may not be on our shelves at this minute does not mean we can’t get it. So, as we spell out on our terms pages, we don’t do it anymore. You may, however, call in and we will tell you if the items are available and if possible attempt to locate what we don’t have while you are on the phone.

September 08 -- Kato USA has announce a new mixed freight train set.  The 6-car set includes: 2 x hopper cars, 2 x gondolas, 2 x tank cars.  The mixed set will be compatible with previous released C44-9W BNSF "Swoosh" and "Warbonnet" locomotives, as well as GG1 PRR Brunswick Green Single Stripe. August 20 -- Bluford Shops has announced the Eighth run of 86' Hi-Cube Boxcars.  This release includes 1 each of the Double Door and Quad Door Models.  The Double Door is a Detroit Toledo & Ironton Scheme coming in 3 road numbers; The Quad door is a DRG&W Scheme coming in 3 road numbers as well. August 03 -- For the first time, Kato is making the Intercity Amfleet II available in N scale along with Phase IV viewliners - at long last the dream of  modeling 90's era Chicago-to-East Coast trains can be a reality.  These sets are due sometime in January/February of 2011.  Please place your orders by September 21. A Note on Stock Status:
Not all items can be in stock at all times. Due to minimum order requirements from manufacturers and distributors and shipping charges, we "bunch" up re-orders to save you money. Sometimes it takes longer, but we can continue to offer the item at a substantial discount that way.

Confused about Reservations?
Please consider that this is the way we pay the bills and put food on the table. Taking pre-orders allows us to order enough to cover known demand. We attempt to gauge (ok, guess) how many will be ordered after the order deadline plus allow us to have the item in stock for 45-60 days after shipment by the manufacturer.
Sometimes we get it right and sometimes we don't. Occasionally, when an item is not likely to be produced again (D&RGW H-15-44s for example) we order beyond our guess to have a few for longer than that.
